20160813 Cape Disappointment State Park

Mike and I took a day trip down to Ilwaco to visit Cape Disappointment Cape Park – it is not called that because the beach is always grey and cold… but rather because so many ships have been wrecked off it’s shores – the Graveyard of the Pacific.

We walked the length of Benson Beach, visited the battery, and made our way to the Cape Disappointment lighthouse, one of two in the park. While there were crowds of folks down by the North Jetty, we had Benson Beach nearly to ourselves. There are lots of neat things to see here, and we’re both looking forward to going back.  I’m especially intrigued by the Discovery Trail, which starts in downtown Ilwaco, and seems to wind all about the park.
